Self-Paced Reading Support

Our Approach

The Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach is considered to be the gold standard for teaching literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to individuals, like to those with dyslexia.

Our self-paced program offers the comprehensive support of OG, built into a dynamic and personalized software program.

We've partnered with one of the top online literacy programs to give Marker clients exclusive access to these interactive programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! These programs are some of the most rigorously researched and independently evaluated reading programs in the world. In numerous studies published in peer-reviewed journals, Core5 and PowerUp have been found to accelerate the development of critical fundamental literacy skills for readers who started the year with significant literacy gaps. You can read more about the efficacy of these programs on the Lexia website.
We welcome you to assist a student in logging in and off, but recommend you refrain from helping the student while they use the program, especially during the auto-placement. If the student receives too much help, they will progress too rapidly and it will become too difficult to keep up. If this happens, please respond to the username and password email you received and we can move the student back for you.
Each student will be given a “prescription” of time each week they should spend in the program. Most students will have between 60-80 minutes a week. The entire program is made up of several hundred “units.” Each unit generally takes fewer than 5 minutes to complete. Set goals for units rather than minutes so the student will make quality progress. 12-20 units a week is recommended.
Yes! Once you purchase a year-long license, you can switch from Core5 to PowerUp at any point, or vice versa.
Core5 and PowerUp are products produced by Lexia, a leader in the literacy intervention space. Lexia programs are typically only available in certain school districts, but our partnership allows Marker clients to gain access to this exclusive software.
The programs will work on any browser, as well as any iPad 5+. Unfortunately, the programs are not currently compatible with Android or Kindle.
The program costs $200 for the year, paid in full. Monthly plans are not available at this time. Additional live support can be purchased to supplement the program, if desired.
We do not offer a trial, however, we do offer a 72-hour money back guarantee.
